It's on! This is MY RUN!

Oh my goodness...

I fell off the bandwagon, for about two months!
10.6 miles is super intense, but I'm going to work my little butt off twice a day to get myself ready to walk 10 miles. I'm being realistic now, and its looking like the majority of the race will have to be walked, but even still that will be such a great accomplishment for me.

I definitely asked myself a few times what the hell are you doing thinking you can enter a 10.6 miler, but you know what, I told myself do it for yourself! Don't feel embarrassed if you walk the whole thing and are the last one to finish the race do it for yourself!

I'm not sure if any of you have heard about the MY RUN documentary, but he's a man who lost his wife and wanted to bring awareness to the realities that both children and the single parent have to go through in single family homes. His wife died of breast cancer and left him to raise their children, he was devastated, but to bring awareness to the reality he told himself he would run 75 marathons in 75 days. With a lot of training, and though enduring pain he accomplished his goal!

I happened to also be watching that show HEAVY last night, there was this 515 pound guy who wanted to lose weight so he could compete in his town's first half marathon. His trainer thought he was crazy as he couldn't even walk half a block without having to stop. But you know what, he did it! He ran that race and finished it.

These are huge feats these men accomplished. I realize I'm not in the best shape but I want to be able to walk the ten miles, and I know I can. I'm not alone on this journey and with GOD I can do it! I can, I know it, I feel it!

I'm so happy right now, and so motivated. I'm sure during these last 40 days I will have my down periods, and during those times I ask that you help push me to my goal, pray for me, and help me keep my EYES ON THE PRIZE!

Operation Cabral signs up for Running?

With the New Year comes New Years Resolutions, and usually by the end of the third week we are already starting to cut corners with our resolutions. This year I didn’t give myself a weight loss goal or a calorie counter plan as I don’t plan on living the rest of my life under such strict regiments because let’s face it, I love food! This year I signed up for a 10.6 mile run in none other than the beautiful Big Sur, California. My goal thus far is to finish the 10.6 miles with an average of 15 minutes a mile.

The Mission: Finish the Race
The Goal: 15 minute miles
The Stats: Currently 265 pounds, I nap more than I workout, I’m averaging 19 minute miles at a 5K distance. 5K=3.2 miles, so I got A LOT OF WORK ahead of me.
The Plan Thus far: Jog/Walk 1.5 miles to begin, gradually add more distance. Swim to build my stamina, and cardio daily. I’m open to suggestions; in fact please send them my way J
Assistance: God, and friends, my mom would probably think I’m crazy, ha. Through this journey I’ll stand on Matthew 7:7-8
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Watch me as I approach May 1, 2011 and attempt Big Sur International Marathon’s 10.6 miler race. Share in my milestones, my frustrations, and those days were the only physical activity we have is opening a bottle of shock top and indulging in the seefood diet!

Peace & Blessings,
Christina Cabral
